Even though we say 2010, our battle has already begun. We must fight for ourselves! Americans will always fight for liberty and freedom.

Now I use those words – liberty and freedom – pretty inter-changeably so let’s check the dictionary. Liberty – freedom from arbitrary or despotic government. 2. Freedom from external or foreign rule. Freedom – the state of being free. 2. Political independence. 3 Personal liberty. So let’s just say the words are inter-changeable and move on. 

Here in the United States of America in 2009, we feel as though our “one nation, under God” is slipping away. But this has been happening for years … all of a sudden, the slide is steeper … faster. We read in the newspaper about world events … about terrorists being home-grown … about our politicians looking the other way at ethics violations … and we say ENOUGH!! We’ve had enough and we’re going to start fighting back!

Americans will always fight for liberty and freedom.  But why does it take such drastic events to wake us up? Why didn’t we start fighting years ago? Why? Well, it is only natural to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and say we’re too busy to call our Senator or to write our Representatives. 

That time has passed. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to remain free – if we mean to preserve those rights and freedoms which we have been so long contending were ours – we must fight! I repeat – we must fight! Our fight is at the ballot box, not with swords or guns. Registered voters in this country number 146,311,000. At least a hundred million of those voters must be upset with the shenanigans going on in Washington!  Talk to your neighbors and friends – find out their feelings and thoughts. Tell them they’re not alone in their concerns, they’re not alone in their fight!

Let me give you some very famous words to think about: 

Patrick Henry – “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address – “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

The Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” 

The American’s Creed: I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

Americans will always fight for liberty and freedom. Our fight, we hope, will be a bloodless one. But our fight cannot be put off any longer … or the corruption in our political system and our politicians will destroy this country from within. There is something new every day that concerns us – we MUST fight! If it’s not health care, it’s Cap-and-Trade. If it’s not Cap-and-Trade, it’s immigration!

For us to win our fight, we must educate ourselves about our current politicians. Are they worthy of representing us? What’s their voting record? Are they part of the ‘pass bills in the middle of the night’ crowd? Are they so closely aligned to their political party that they can’t separate their vote from their party? Are the answers satisfactory to you? We want politicians who are honest and trustworthy! Honest and trustworthy – are there any politicians out there who are honest and trustworthy? Name 5!

For us to win our fight, we must educate ourselves about our voting process, about the way candidates are selected in the political process. We can change the process but we must start NOW! 

Our representatives in DC aren't paying attention to you and me – they're too busy being "lobbied" or wined and dined by special interest groups!  Here's the deal: If members of BOTH sides of Congress aren't willing to change their attitudes and start representing US – then we're going to do our very best to help them find another job!

Americans will always fight for freedom. Besides the ballot box, here’s how we can fight for our freedom: Be part of a larger group that lets our voices be heard far and wide, where we all send faxes to our Senators and Representatives telling them to represent US – the voters who elected them.  Change the Congress in 2010 wants you to join the organization – be part of that larger group where you aren’t alone! Join at www.ChangetheCongressin2010.com.

Americans will always fight for freedom. Did you fight for freedom today?  Our freedom is priceless and we must never take it for granted – never again! Remember our pledge: “We won’t let another day pass without doing something for freedom. It is our fight … and our right." Americans will always fight for freedom.
